March 2015

After months of planning and discussions SASHA website was launched with a fresh new look. With extensive content and easier navigation the site focuses on all things that make art and craft a delight! The objective is to provide our readers with current news and communicate our commitment to the cause of the artisans and craft communities.

Internatonal Women’s Day

Internatonal Womens Day

For Internatonal Women’s Day, SASHA took the message of recognizing gender equality and women empowerment to different dimensions. The shop bloomed in Purple! The ambience was set to “MAKE IT HAPPEN” and engage our women artisans in a high energy talk session. Ms. Kavita Panjabi, our key speaker, encouraged the participants to pitch in their experiences and ideas. The emphasis was on the need to tackle inequality –the cornerstone to address poverty issues. All present acknowledged how inspirational women have uplifted communities out of abject poverty. Giving equal access to resources, fighting injustice and cases of increasing violence on women were some of the other topics discussed at length.

March 8 is a day for applauding women’s success all across the globe. The Purple March brought together women in SASHA to celebrate this global campaign with a lot of energy. It was time to look ahead to the opportunities that await our future generations of women. Purple was the dress code and Purple flowers adorned everyone’s attire! The walk from Victoria Memorial to Mohur Kunj welcomed all the onlookers and supportive audience to join in. This was followed by an energetic play by street theater artists. Christine Gent, WFTO, Asia -Executive Director was present for the walk and was heard hitting the right notes with the participants. We shall overcome was on everyone’s lips.
