This month, we are delighted with the successful Global Launch of the WFTO Label at Frankfurt, Germany on 13th February 2016.
Global Launch of the WFTO Label
On the occasion of Global Launch of the WFTO Label Mrs. Roopa Mehta, CEO- Sasha Association for Craft Producers & Independent Director of the WFTO Board said “Today, with the WFTO label, our credibility in the larger marketplace is established. Internally, both producers and the office team take pride in claiming their Fair trade guaranteed status.” To complement the occasion, Sasha proudly announced its Guaranteed status and the WFTO Label on 27th February.
Our Kantha women and their craft were a huge hit! The Kantha exhibition at Bolzano was a hugely successful event. Our women Amina, Sumita, Sabitri and Sagarica with Swagata, Roshni & Simona have been enthralling people from the town and visitors with their Kantha designs and smiles. They have been extremely busy with craft demonstrations, classes for eager learners, visitors, talking to the press and interview with regional TV. Amina and Sumita were also felicitated by the local government.
Kalaghoda Arts Festival 2016
Sasha participated at the Kalaghoda Arts Festival 2016 from 10-14 February in Mumbai. We showcased RASA, Shantiniketan emboss leather & Madur (mats & floor coverings). We had a very encouraging response and would like to go back again.
Artisan Workshop
The Sasha Textile Artisan Association organized a workshop on origami smocking with the group leaders to introduce new skills. Young designer Payal Mondal facilitated this workshop.
RASA skin & body care range was re-launched in the Sasha Shop. The newly revamped product range is even more delightful, with the goodness of natural and authentic ingredients; RASA is cruelty-free and Fair Trade. We also had a promotional offer at the Sasha Shop on this occasion.
Sasha Shop organized its annual Upcycle event – “Re-used & Re-purposed” at Sasha Shop from 22nd February onwards showcasing up-cycled, eco-friendly, handmade products. It was covered in the media and there was an enthusiastic response from tourists and locals.
An event with a difference was organized by Sasha at the Sasha Shop this month. We invited differently able individuals from Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy and FMR Asha Niketan on 27th of February to paint the wall in front our Shop. As they transformed the drab wall into a picturesque piece of art, we cherished their smiles, cheer and excitement. The differently abled individuals from the institutes participated in embellishing the village scene depicted in the wall mural by making impressions with paint smeared leaves to adorn the myriad trees. With the help of the able volunteers, they also added flowers, fruits, birds and fish in an impressionistic way in a variety of colors to liven up the entire scene and touched our heart as they did so. It was a very and colourful event. It was a wonderful occasion for Sasha to unravel the WFTO Label in Kolkata too!
