Collaboration between craft enterprises and the global market
Craft Producer Company Limited (ZCPCL) facilitating collaboration between craft enterprises and the global market, through an integrated and inclusive approach through establishment of sustainable artisan-owned institutions under the Government of Jammu & Kashmir initiated Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP) in assistance from the World Bank as a response in the aftermath of the devastating floods that affected entire Srinagar in 2014.
Paper Mache’ Artisans taking on the world
Zadibal Craft Producer Company Limited (ZCPCL) was registered on 17th November, 2020 under company’s act 1956 with the strong support from Sarba Shanti Ayog, Sasha’s development partner organization and the Handicrafts Department of J&K Government. With handholding support from Sarba Shanti Ayog; ZCPCL is geared to have an access to a strong domestic and international market through its engagement with Sasha Association for Craft Producers. Both Sasha and SDSA will address the technical, business and skill related issues as and when required to service the global markets. It has been envisaged in the coming years ZCPCL is to gain a strong foothold and become the strength of the Paper Mache’ Artisans’ of J&K. It is part of a larger vision to develop and promote the crafts and hand skills of Kashmir as a single “brand” globally.
A growing producer collective
ZPCL has identified 29 registered cooperatives providing regular employment to nearly 300 artisans with an annual turnover of approximately two Crores of business; are in process of coming into the fold of the Producer Collective. The Collective is aimed to empower artisans to take a collective decision making and a fair access to market and business opportunities.
The founders of the company are the master artisans of Zadibal Paper Mache’ craft, who are also the Board of Directors. The company have 10 Board of directors at initial stage. The Board of Director comprise of two women directors to ensure representation of women in the cluster. The company shall have around 120 artisans who will be directly getting benefit in the first year itself.
